2022 NASA Lunabotics Champions
In May 2022, Alabama Astrobotics traveled to Cape Canaveral, FL, and competed in the 2022 NASA Lunabotics competition on-site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. After competing in two brutal rounds of mining in the BP-1, the Team’s 2022 rover, affectionally called Goby, collected 5.4 kg of gravel, the most of any team competing. Between the Team’s mining score, partial autonomous operations, System’s Engineering paper, and Public Outreach paper, Alabama Astrobotics was awarded the Joe Kosmo Award for Excellence, the competition’s top prize.
